Nutrition Counseling and Diabetes Education

Receive personalized nutrition and diabetes advice, tailored to your body and your past medical history. We will work toward making realistic changes that you can continue for the rest of your life. For best results, a minimum of three visits are recommended - we can't do everything in one day! All clients receive access to Nourish's Client Portal, which allows you to log your food intake (optional), document your workouts, and ask questions.  Please note, we do not work with anorexia nervosa or bulimia, as that is not our specialty.

Choose either in-person sessions or virtual sessions (via confidential and HIPAA-compliant video). 
Initial Assessment: $125 (usually covered by insurance). See insurance information below for details.
During this one hour session, we will discuss your health concerns, challenges, and goals. If you feel comfortable, we will measure your body fat percentage also. We will review any relevant lab work that you bring to your appointment. ​
We will discuss what foods to include, what foods to avoid, ideal portions for your body, guidance on how to eat at restaurants, and the best time to eat. Exercise will also be addressed. If you have diabetes, we'll be sure to address all 7 areas of diabetes self-management throughout our visits.
You'll receive a detailed list of meal ideas and recipes. Need a meal plan to help you get started? No problem! Your meal plan will be designed to help you see what delicious and healthy meals you can enjoy and still reach your health goals, however, we know that meal plans are not something anyone can follow forever. You'll be able to deviate from the meal plan anytime with the advice that you receive.
Follow-up Sessions: $45 (usually covered by insurance). See insurance information below for details.
During these half-hour sessions, we'll measure your success, review your meal photos (or food log), and troubleshoot any challenges you encountered along the way.  We're looking for progress, not perfection!
​Each session you'll receive encouragement, new ideas, time-saving meal prep tips, recipes, and more. We'll also set new behavior goals so that you're continuously improving your habits. This is what leads to lifelong weight maintenance and a nourished life! I recommend a minimum of three sessions so that we can cover enough information and develop sustainable behaviors.

Online Feedback and Support Between Sessions

 $75 per month (optional service not covered by insurance)

Feel like you need an accountability partner between your sessions? Utilize our confidential online portal to post photos of your meals and receive feedback, tips, recipes, and encouragement directly from me. Contact your RD through the secure messaging system with any questions you have between sessions. You'll receive same-day responses and encouragement! It's like having an RD on call!

Weekly Meal Plan Service

Just need some inspiration on what to cook? No problem! I offer tasty and healthy weekly meal plans that include recipes and a grocery list for just $45 a month. Read more about our meal plan service here.
Custom meal plans are also available for people who have more specific preferences for $75 per month. These plans are personalized to your individual needs and are delivered weekly via e-mail. Read more about custom meal plans here.

Corporate Wellness and Menu Analysis

When your employees are healthier, you save money on health insurance costs and avoid lost productivity. We offer a variety of workplace nutrition services, which are fully customizable. Some examples include:
  • RD at Work - A dietitian visits your workplace and provides confidential nutrition counseling sessions for your employees. For convenience, virtual sessions are also offered. We can usually bill the employee's health plan for this, so there is sometimes no cost to the company.
  • Healthy Work Environment Analysis and break room snack recommendations
  • 30 or 60 Day Challenges
  • Lunch and Learns and Speaking Engagements

Menu development and/or nutrition analysis is also available for restaurants, child care centers, etc.

Insurance and Fees

Insurance often covers individual nutrition counseling! Each insurance plan is different, so the easiest way to find out if it's covered is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask. Request to find out your benefits for "preventive nutrition counseling." If you have diabetes, you may want to ask if your plan covers "nutrition counseling for diabetes." If you have any problems finding out what your benefits are, just let us know and we can help. Read more about fees and specific plans below. The information below is based on what usually happens with these insurance companies. We cannot guarantee coverage because we must submit claims based on your weight and medical history. 

If insurance denies your claim or you choose to not file with insurance, self-pay fees are:
  • $125 initial assessment
  • $45 follow-up session

In-network with (please note coverage depends on your employer and medical diagnosis):
  • Aetna (usually covers 10 visits per year if you are overweight AND have cardiovascular disease risk factors (hypertension, dyslipidemia, impaired fasting glucose, high cholesterol, or family history of cardiovascular disease). If you are not overweight or do not have a cardiovascular disease risk factor, a copay or deductible will apply. We are not in-network with Aetna Medicaid plans also known as Aetna Better Health.
  • Aetna Medicare (referral required and covered for diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • Ambetter (coverage varies depending on employer, so please call your plan to inquire about coverage).
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Plan (usually covered as a preventive service as long as you do not have a Medicare plan)
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Oklahoma (usually covered at no cost to member, however, a few employers choose to exclude the service unless you have diabetes).
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Oklahoma Medicare (covers diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Out of State Plans (coverage depends on state and employer, often covered but depends on employer and state, we require a credit card to be kept on file in case claim is denied)
  • Cigna (Coverage depends on weight and medical history - some visits apply to deductible or have a copay)
  • GEHA (visits apply to the deductible for most employers and most plans have a copay)
  • Healthcare Highways (coverage depends on employer but it is often covered)
  • Healthchoice (usually covers 3 visits per year if you are overweight or have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, diabetes, or family history of cardiovascular disease -may apply to deductible and may have a co-pay; additional visits in the same year apply to the deductible and are usually covered at 50%; children have 1 visit per year)
  • HealthSmart (usually covered for obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or family history of cardiovascular disease). Plans vary by employer, some plans have co-pays and deductibles. 
  • Humana (usually covered unless you have a Humana Healthy Horizons Medicaid plan)
  • Humana Medicare (referral required and covered for diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • Integris Health Partners Network/WebTPA (usually covered)
  • Medica (formerly known as Wellfirst) (in-network and most plans cover visits, this includes SSM Health.)
  • Medicare (referral required and covered for diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • Meritain Health (often covered; coverage varies depending on employer and diagnosis; copay sometimes applies
  • Oklahoma Health Network (coverage depends on employer, best to call insurance and ask)
  • ​Taro Health (in-network, coverage depends on employer and diagnosis; best to call and ask for benefits)
  • UMR (usually covered if you have specific health conditions like overweight, obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or family history of cardiovascular disease)
  • United Healthcare (usually covered if you have specific health conditions like overweight, obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or family history of cardiovascular disease). We do not send claims to UHC Medicaid plans.
  • United Healthcare Medicare or AARP Medicare (referral required and covered for diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • WebTPA (often covered but depends on employer and diagnosis; Oklahoma Heart Hospital employee insurance is excluded and does not cover nutrition). We are in-network with the Integris WebTPA plan.
  • Wellcare Medicare Advantage Plan (referral required and covered for diabetes or kidney disease only). We can see clients for other conditions but it will be at the client's expense.
  • WellFirst/Medica (usually covered via Healthcare Highways for SSM St. Anthony employees)

Out-of-network claims for other companies can be submitted on your behalf, but payment up front is required. Customers will be refunded amount covered by insurance. We are not able to send claims to any Medicaid plan of any kind.

We no longer submit claims directly to Global Health or Tricare but customers may pay out of pocket and submit a superbill to insurance for possible reimbursement.

We are no longer contracted with Medicaid plans or SoonerCare. We are not in-network with Humana Medicaid (Humana Healthy Horizons), Aetna Medicaid (Aetna Better Health), or Oklahoma Complete Health Medicaid.

No-Show and Cancellation Policy: Please be aware we require at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment because we reserve our time for you. If you do not attend your appointment, reschedule or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we will charge you $25 for your reserved appointment time. There are no exceptions to this policy. We require a credit card on file in our secure system for all clients. This is customary in the counseling industry and consistent with other practices in the area.

Online Scheduling 

Scheduling your appointment is quick and confidential (HIPAA compliant).

If you need to reschedule your appointment, we kindly request at least 48 hours notice by calling 405-254-6453. We charge a $25 session fee for no-shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. See our cancellation policy below.

​Our appointment availability changes throughout the week, so if you'd like to be notified of any cancellations, just let us know by typing a note in when you book your appointment. If you are scheduling a couple's session, we will need a separate appointment for each individual (a two hour time-block), so please call if you need help with this.

Please note, if you are in a different time zone at the time you book an appointment, the appointment times will automatically adjust to the time zone you are in at the time of booking.  ​
